Know what is the legend of Mahashivaratri ?

प्राचीन काल की बात है.  एक गांव में गुरूद्रूह नाम का एक शिकारी रहता था। जानवरो का शिकार करके वह अपने परिवार का पालन पौषण किया करता था ।
शिवरात्रि के दिन जब वह शिकार के लिए गया, तब पूरे दिन शिकार खोजने के बाद भी उसे कोई जानवर नहीं मिला, परेशान होकर वह एक तालाब के पास गया और तालाब के किनारे एक पेड पर अपने साथ पीने के लिए थोडा सा पानी लेकर चढ गया । वह “बेल-पत्र” का पेड़ था और ठीक इसके नीचे एक प्राकर्तिक शिवलिंग भी था जो सूखे बेलपत्रों से से ढका हुआ था जिसकी वजह से वह शिवलिंग दिखाई नहीं दे रहा था। अनजाने मे उसके हाथ से कुछ बेल-पत्र एवं पानी की कुछ बूंदे पे़ड के नीचे बने शिवलिंग पर गिरीं और जाने अनजाने में दिनभर भूखे-प्यासे शिकारी का व्रत भी हो गया और पहले प्रहर की पूजा भी हो गई।

रात की पहली पहर बीत जाने पर एक गर्भिणी हिरणी तालाब पर पानी पीने पहुंची।
जैसे ही शिकारी ने उसे मारने के लिए अपने धनुष पर तीर चढ़ाया हिरणी ने घबरा कर ऊपर की ओर देखा ओर शिकारी से  कांपते हुए स्वर में बोली- ” हे शिकारी मुझे मत मारो।”  शिकारी ने कहा – वह मजबूर है क्योकि उसका परिवार भूखा है इसलिए वह अब उसे नहीं छोड सकता। हिरणी ने कहा कि वह अपने बच्चों को अपने स्वामी को सौंप कर लौट आयेगी। तब वह चाहे तो उसका शिकार कर ले। । शिकारी को हिरणी पर दया आ गयी और उसने उसे जाने दिया।

कुछ ही देर बाद एक और हिरणी अपने बच्चो के साथ उधर से निकली। उसने धनुष पर तीर चढ़ाने में देर नहीं लगाई। वह तीर छोड़ने ही वाला था कि मृगी बोली, ‘हे शिकारी!’  इन बच्चो को मुझे इनके पिता के पास सौप आने दो और उसके बाद तुम चाहो तो मेरा शिकार कर सकते हो. मै तुम्हारे पास स्वयं उपस्थित हो जाउंगी.

शिकारी ने कहा – हे मृग मै विवश हूँ. मुझे अपने बच्चो और पत्नी के खातिर तुम्हरा शिकार करना ही होगा. हिरणी ने कहा – जिस प्रकार तुम्हे अपने बच्चो की चिंता है ठीक उसी प्रकार प्रकार मुझे भी अपने बच्चो की चिंता है. इसलिए मुझे अपने बच्चो की खातिर कुछ समय दे दो. उसके पश्चात् में तुम्हारे सामने खुद आत्मसमर्पित हो जाउंगी.

हिरणी की अपने बच्चो के प्रति आपार ममता को देखकर शिकारी को उस पर भी दया आ गई और उसे भी जाने दिया.

समय व्यतीत करने के लिए शिकारी बेल के वृष के पते तोड़ तोड़ कर नीचे फैकता गया तभी शिकारी को एक ओर हिरण दिखाई दिया और शिकारी ने उसे मारने हेतु अपना धनुष झट से उठा लिया. शिकारी को देख हिरण ने कहा – अगर तुमने मेरे बच्चो और मेरी पत्नी का शिकार कर दिया है तो कृपया मेरा भी शीर्घ शिकार कर दो और यदि उन्हें जीवनदान दिया है तो  मेरे प्राण भी कुछ समय के लिए दे दो ताकि मै अपने बच्चो से एक बार मिल सकू. इसके बाद मै तुम्हे वचन देता हूँ  की मै तुम्हारे सामने उपस्थित हो जाऊंगा. शिकारी ने उसे भी जाने दिया और कुछ समय के बाद तीनो हिरण शिकारी के सामने उपस्थित हो गए. शिकारी दिनभर भूखा-प्यासा रहा और अंजाने में ही उससे शिवलिंग की पूजा भी हो गई और इस प्रकार  शिवरात्रि का व्रत भी संपन्न हो गया. व्रत के प्रभाव से उसका मन पाप मुक्त और निर्मल हो गया और उसने तीनो हिरणों को छोड़ दिया. शिकारी भूतकाल में हुए अपने द्वारा निर्दोष जीवों की हत्या के पश्चाताप से दुखी था.  तभी वहा भगवान शिव प्रकट हुए और बोले – आज के बाद तुम्हे ऐसा काम नहीं करना होगा जो तुम्हे पाप और आत्मग्लानी के बोझ तले दबाता जा रहा है. शिकारी ने रोते हुए कहा की ऐसी कृपा मुझ पापी पर क्यों?.

भगवान शकंर ने शिकारी से कहा – आज शिवरात्रि है और तुमने अनजाने में ही सही लेकिन मेरा व्रत और बेलपत्रो से मेरी पूजा की है. इसलिए तुम्हारा कायाकल्प हुआ है और तुम्हारा मन पवित्र हुआ है. जो भी शिवभक्त

महाशिवरात्रि के दिन यह कथा सुनेगा उसे वह सब फल मिलेगा जो तुम्हे मिला है.

He used to feed his family by hunting animals.On the day of Shivratri, when he went for hunting, he did not find any animal after hunting for the whole day, disturbed he went to a pond and climbed a little water to drink with him on a tree along the pond . It was a "bell-letter" tree and right below it was a natural Shivaling which was covered with dried ballets, due to which he could not see Shivling. Unknowingly, some drops of water and a few drops of water were slaughtered on Shivling under the feet, and unknowingly hunger-thirsty hunter fasted in the day and worship was done earlier.
On the first night of the night, a pregnant Hirani reached the pond to drink water.As soon as the hunter offered arrows to his bow to kill him, the diamond looked upstairs and shouted with a shock and said, "Do not kill me!" The hunter said - She is forced because her family is hungry So she can not leave her now. Hirani said that he will return to his master by returning his children to his master. Then he wants to kill him if he wants to. . The hunter got pity on the deer and he let him go.
Shortly after, another deer came out of there with his children. He did not delay taking arrows on the bow. It was about to leave the arrow that the orthodox quote, 'Hey hunter!' Let these children come to me with their father and after that you can kill me if you wish. I will be present to you personally.

The hunter said - I'm sure I'm dead. I have to hunt you for the sake of my children and wife. Hirani said - just as you worry about your children, so also I worry about my children. So give me some time for the sake of my children. After that I will be surrendered myself in front of you.
Seeing the harshness of Hirani's children towards her child, the hunter also pity him and even let him go.
In order to spend time, the hunter bell broke the tears of the taurus and broke it down, only when the hunter saw a deer on one side and the hunter lifted his bow to kill him. The deer watching the hunter said - If you have hunted my children and my wife, please kill me too long and if I have given them life then give my life for some time so that I will be able to give my children one time Can find After that I promise you that I will be present in front of you. The hunter also let him go and after some time the three were present in front of the deer hunter. The hunter was hungry and thirsty throughout the day and in anjaane itself he worshiped Shivling also and thus the fast of Shivratri was also completed. With the influence of fast, his mind became free and clean and he left all three deer. The hunter was unhappy with the repentance of the killing of innocent people in the past. Only then Lord Shiva appeared and said - After today you will not have to do such a thing which is pressing you under the burden of sin and self-gratification. The hunter cried and said, why such grace is on my sinner ?.
Lord Shakaran said to the hunter - Shivratri is today and you are unknowingly right but I have worshiped my vow and bilpatro. That's why your rejuvenation has happened and your mind has become pure.
